Environmental Policy

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is now UK law.

The WEEE Directive aims to reduce the waste arising from electrical and electronic equipment, and improve the environmental performance of all those involved in the life cycle of electrical and electronic equipment.

UK households dispose of over 1.2 million tonnes of electrical and electronic waste every year. This is the equivalent of 150,000 double decker buses. It would be enough to fill the Wembley Stadium 6 times. The amount of WEEE we throw away is increasing by around 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK.

Much of the UK’s WEEE ends up in landfill sites, where the toxins can cause soil and water contamination. This can have a harmful effect on natural habitat, wildlife and human health.

Many electrical items that we throw away can be repaired or recycled. Recycling items helps to save our natural finite resources and also reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending electrical goods to landfill.

To remind you to dispose of electrical goods separately from household waste, all new electrical products are marked with a crossed out wheeled bin symbol.

At the end of its working life, this product must not be disposed of as household waste.

Please contact your local authority to find out how to dispose of this product responsibly. Please dispose of the complete product (including cables, plug and accessories) in the designated local council WEEE collection facilities.

Disposing of electrical and electronic equipment separately avoids possible negative effects on the environment and human health derived from inappropriate disposal and enables its components to be recovered and recycled to obtain significant savings in energy and resources.

Noozie® is a registered producer of WEEE.

Distributors of new Electric and Electronic Equipment (EEE) have a part to play in reducing the amount of WEEE going into landfill sites.

As a conscientious business, Noozie® has chosen to group together with other retailers in joining the ‘Distributor Take Back Scheme’. Through this scheme, we have paid toward the provision of improved of recycling facilities for our customers.

How does this work in practice?

Customers will be able to take any old electrical equipment to participating civic amenity sites (often known as ‘household waste recycling centres’) run by their local councils. Please remember that this equipment will be further handled during the recycling process, so please be considerate when depositing your equipment.

Funding collected through the Distributor Take Back Scheme has been distributed between all Local Authorities in the UK to ensure the provision of improved recycling facilities.

Producers of these products will then ensure that deposited items are taken away and recycled.

You can locate your closest participating collection site at www.recycle-more.co.uk (please remember to have your postcode to hand).

Noozie® Take Back Scheme

We offer our customers a free take-back of their WEEE products on a like-for-like basis when they buy a new electrical product from us.

If your Noozie™ products are replacing any old WEEE marked electrical products performing a similar function, or old Noozie products, you may return this to us to dispose of responsibly.

Please contact Noozie® by email or using the contact form so we can provide you with details of our WEEE recycling address.
Please quote your order number and describe the item that is to be recycled.
Please packaging your item carefully.
